Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

I turn to those wise words when I’m struggling. There are things that I cannot change, one of them is that I am in pain at the moment. A recurring injury has dragged my mood down over the past few days.
I find serenity in accepting this. It is what it is and for now there will be discomfort and frustration. I cannot do what I would like to do. The universe is telling me to rest and recuperate.
I do have the courage to tolerate the pain. It will pass.
What I have to do is be grateful for what I’ve got. I have supermarkets and pharmacies nearby. I won’t go hungry and I won’t be writhing around in agony.
Having the wisdom to know the difference between acceptance and action is something I continue to work on. I am not wise, nor am I enlightened.
I am working towards both. As to how close I get… That is still to be revealed.
Towards the top of this article is a placid, calm, serene landscape. I am aiming for that level of serenity with my frustrated and mildly turbulent mind.
I shall keep moving forwards. I hope that you do too.
All the best!
Matt The Happy Human 🙂
